Here is a connection to a chimney that was done years ago that is a very dangerous and illegal connection. All vents for plumbing need to penetrate or go to the roof level outside without connecting into a chimney that serves the purpose for exhaust gasses for a furnace or water heater.  :o

Too many things can go wrong in that situation and create many hazards, like for one big one: Methane gas found in plumbing systems, sewer gases are highly flammable!!!!

More on this subject matter regarding this connection to the chimney.

There is no way this is a legal connection in plumbing. Transition of piping material between abs plastic and galvanized steel requires a specific, watertight connection that is code approved.

The comments in the post about this unfolding tragedy here.

Lots of glue was used to make the connection water tight, not no more!  ???

The video above is plumbing in a mobile home trailer, and you can see by the way the work was performed, nothing is up to code, nor is it considered 'licensed and inspected' by a plumbing inspector.

This is where too often that people who try to do plumbing on their own goes horribly wrong and this is the result of just that. Good grief!
